10 good reasons to eat pineapple

Reading time:
approx. 3 Minutes

1. good for your health

One fruit of pineapple (165 grams) contains 21.7 grams of carbohydrates and 2.3 grams of fiber. That means there are 19.4 grams of edible carbohydrates in each pineapple. Pineapple does not have a great impact on blood sugar levels (at least not in healthy people).

2. excellent dietary fiber

Pineapple contains 2 grams of dietary fiber, almost all of which is insoluble (99%). Insoluble fiber reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes and digestion.

3. vitamins and minerals

Pineapple provides 132% of the recommended daily allowance of vitamin C and 76% of manganese. Pineapple also contains copper, a trace mineral that performs many vital functions in the body, such as red blood cell production and folate (B9), which is important for regular cell function and tissue growth. Folate is also very important for women who are pregnant.

4. reduced risk of cancer

Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide and is mainly characterized by uncontrollable cell growth that damages surrounding tissues. A diet high in yellow vegetables and fruits (like pineapple!) reduces the risk of colon cancer. Various test tube studies have shown that the bromelain contained in pineapple can prevent the growth of cancer cells and cause them to die.

5. improves the immune system

Bromelain has been shown in studies to strengthen the immune system and reduce inflammation. It can stimulate immune responses, reducing the severity of inflammation, and have beneficial effects in asthma and allergic respiratory diseases. Eating pineapple or taking a bromelain supplement can shorten the period of sinus infections, prevent blood clots, reduce inflammation and stimulate immune responses, especially in children.

6. amazing plant compounds

Bromelain is a unique protein-digesting enzyme found only in pineapple. It also reduces cancer risk, heals wounds and improves abdominal health. Anthocyanins: Pineapple contains small amounts of anthocyanins, powerful antioxidants that can reduce the risk of many diseases, such as heart disease. (Thanks to its bromelain content, you can use pineapple juice to tenderize meat!)

7. makes you slim

Pineapple makes you feel full and provides energy without eating too many calories. You eat less than 60 calories per half pineapple. Pineapple has a high water content and is rich in fiber, which in turn fills you up. The golden fruit has also been shown to reduce stomach bloating caused by bromelain, which leads to better digestion and a slimmer waistline.

8. reduces nausea in pregnant women

Pineapple may have a nausea-reducing effect due to high amounts of vitamins and minerals - especially vitamin B6, which relieves symptoms of pregnancy-related nausea.

9. fertility promotion

Foods high in antioxidants, such as pineapple, are recommended for those trying to conceive because of several beneficial vitamins and minerals, including beta-carotene, vitamin C, copper, zinc and folic acid. Many of these elements can increase fertility in both men and women by helping to fight free radicals.

10. promotes blood circulation

Pineapple produces copper, an essential mineral that is vital in a number of enzymatic reactions and compounds in the body. Copper is a necessary mineral for the formation of healthy red blood cells, which supply oxygen to various organ systems and help them function optimally. Pineapple also increases cognitive abilities and can maintain neural pathways to prevent nerve disorders such as Alzheimer's and dementia.
